This group exhibition of internationally renowned contemporary artists will open in the Kresge Gallery on Thursday, November 5 and continue through December 9. Recasting Site features artists who emphasize the rediscovery of the ordinary by subverting the commercial and cultural packaging of experience. Through this process, familiar objects, interiors, phenomena, and environments are recovered through fresh perspectives and unique approaches to media. “These artists are especially sensitive to the ability for a medium, including its flaws or limitations, to become part of the subject matter itself,” says curator Terri C. Smith, “They create situations where photography, landscape, light, architecture, and even time are ‘recast.’ ” Artists in the exhibition represent several generations. Robert Smithson (1938-1973) and Mary Lucier (b. 1944) both began working in the 1960s transferring the concerns of Minimalist sculpture and music respectively, to the realms of architecture and landscape. Other artists on view with pieces in various media include Roe Ethridge (b. 1969), Robert de Saint Phalle (b. 1978) and Mads Lynnerup (b. 1976). The annual Ramapo Curatorial Prize is selected by visual arts faculty from exhibition proposals submitted by second-year graduate students at Bard College’s prestigious Center for Curatorial Studies. The winning curator presents an exhibition at Ramapo. A preview reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, and a talk by curator Terri C. Smith is scheduled for 6 p.m. Video artist Mary Lucier will speak about her work on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 5 p.m. in the Adler Theater. This program is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts. The Kresge Gallery is located in the Berrie Center for Performing and Visual Arts at УиУмбаОПЫљ. Gallery hours are Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 1 to 5 p.m., and Wednesday, 1 to 7 p.m. For more information, call 201-684-7147 # # # # For media inquiries, contact Anna Farneski, assistant vice president, Marketing and Communications, 201.684.6844. ./VWXkl€ВРЬЭ2@уђС Т OРСї№х№зхЮх№ЩФКФЩЖЩЖЩЖЏЖЇ  hкSѕhG{LhG{LB*ph hLBhG{LhG{LhЭWгhG{L56 hG{L5 hG{L6h‹nhG{L0Jjh‹nhG{LUjh‹nhG{LU h‹nhG{Lh‹nhG{L5mn€ЬЭту‹* + Т У Т У Б В ^_EFNOСњњњњђђ№№№№№№№№№№№№№№№ђђшdhgdG{L$a$gdG{LgdG{LСў 1hАа/ Ар=!А"А# $ %АЇDаЩъyљКЮŒ‚ЊKЉ рЩъyљКЮŒ‚ЊKЉ 6mailto:afarnesk@ramapo.eduЅ@@ёџ@ NormalCJ_HaJmH sH tH H@H ЭWг Heading 1$@&5OJPJQJaJDA@ђџЁD Default Paragraph FontRi@ѓџГR Table Normalі4ж l4жaі (k@єџС(No ListH™@ђH ˜ Balloon TextCJOJQJ^JaJ4U`Ђ4 G{L Hyperlink >*phџС џџџџ!џџ z™С mn€ЬЭту‹*+ТУТУБВ^_E F N O У ˜0€€`С˜0€€`С˜0€€`С˜0€€`С˜0€€`С˜0€€`С˜0€€`С˜0€€`С˜0€€`С˜0€€`С˜0€€`С˜0€€`С˜0€€`С˜0€€`С˜0€€`С˜0€€`С˜0€€`С˜0€€`С˜0€€`С˜0€€`С˜0€€`С˜0€€`С˜0€€`С˜0€ €mn€ЭF N O У Z@ 0@(™АџП€Z@ 0@(™АџП€@00t—hV@00 0€@00t—,V@00€@00€ 0—|xVСС С .WkС Xџ„№8№@ёџџџ€€€ї№’№№0№( № №№B №S №ПЫџ ?№$,‡У ,-У :nУ qџОџ@€Р Р ЧмР Р •С p @џџUnknownџџџџџџџџџџџџGTimes New Roman5€Symbol3 Arial3Times5 Tahoma"qˆ№аh…jкFkкFkjкFi |v!№ ДД24dр ђ Х3ƒq№HX №џ?фџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџкSѕџџJRAMAPO CURATORIAL PRIZE TRADITION CONTINUES WITH RECASTING SITE EXHIBITION MigrationRamapo Collegeўџ р…ŸђљOhЋ‘+'Гй0а˜ є ,< T` € Œ ˜ ЄАИРШ'LRAMAPO CURATORIAL PRIZE TRADITION CONTINUES WITH RECASTING SITE EXHIBITION MigrationNormalУиУмбаОПЫљ4Microsoft Word 11.5.3@@ ( LЪ@№&LЪ@˜ЕЦLЪi ўџ еЭеœ.“—+,љЎDеЭеœ.“—+,љЎŒH hp˜ Ј АИРШ а ''УиУмбаОПЫљ of NJр KRAMAPO CURATORIAL PRIZE TRADITION CONTINUES WITH RECASTING SITE EXHIBITION Title @ПЧ?Gk‡ _PID_HLINKS_AdHocReviewCycleID_EmailSubject _AuthorEmail_AuthorEmailDisplayName'Ap@umailto:afarnesk@ramapo.eduŸM@љCuratorial Prize release afarnesk@ramapo.eduAnna Farneski ўџџџ ўџџџўџџџ !"#ўџџџ%&'()*+ўџџџ§џџџ. Document.8
