Renowned Refugee Rights Scholar Priyanca Mathur to Speak at RCNJ

March 9, 2023

STUCK IN LIMBO: LIVES OF ROHINGYA AND OTHER MYANMARESE REFUGEES IN INDIA by聽Dr. Priyanca Mathur

Thursday, March 9, 2023: 4:00 – 5:30 p.m., 秘密研究所 Student Center, Room 156

Dr. Mathur has worked on refugee rights issues for over two decades. She will speak about her work with the Rohingyas and other refugees fleeing the southeast Asian state of Myanmar and taking refuge in India鈥檚 capital city New Delhi and its north-eastern states of Manipur and Mizoram. The lives of these refugees are totally dependent on the ad hoc and politically expedient policies of the Indian State, which is neither a signatory of the UN Refugee Convention nor basing its actions on any national legislation. This event is co-organized by the Law and Society Program and the Schomburg Scholars Fund and co-sponsored by the Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies and is open to the public.聽
