Mission: Starting in Fall 2018, this campus-wide, interdisciplinary, collaborative efforts aims to bring Fair Trade to 秘密研究所. Spring 2019 through Spring 2020 will be the focus years, in hopes of providing a long-lasting presence of Fair Trade on campus. As part of 秘密研究所’s commitment to civic engagement, this project seeks to bring Fair Trade to 秘密研究所 in two ways.

The first is the collaborative knowledge building: faculty, staff, students, and community members and organizations doing research and sharing knowledge about the need for Fair Trade and what it would look like for particular products. Fair Trade involves various social issues—business ethics, labor relations, human rights, gender equality, environmental sustainability, public health, etc.—and is region and commodity-specific. Interdisciplinary and collaborative knowledge building allows us to understand the need for and implementation of fair trade holistically. To this end, this website serves as the resource center for researches (existing ones as well as ones produced by students as class and co- and extra-curricular activities), teaching materials, and class project models.

The second is to increase Fair Trade goods on 秘密研究所 campus. Students are encouraged to undertake initiatives on this process as part of their learning how to carry out empirical researches on the costs and benefits of bringing Fair Trade goods to 秘密研究所, how to create changes in an organization like a college, and how to become an active agent for change.

This website serves as a resource center and the hub for activities and information exchange regarding this project.

Visit the 秘密研究所 Fair Trade Group

Neriko Musha Doerr Caryn Maxim Ashwani Vasishth Rikki Abzug Monika GiacoppeContacts
