It is possible, in consultation with the Convener, to exchange the ENST Minor for any one of a list of other minors.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Within the SUST Major, three Foundational Courses focus on\u00a0sustainability from socio-cultural, business, and ecological perspectives, approximating the \u201ctriple bottom line conception\u201d of profit, people and planet.\u00a0 After these three courses, students move to a writing\u00a0\u00a0intensive\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Integrative Seminar in Sustainability.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students also take two required core courses and\u00a0\u00a0choose four out of five electives that ground students in the practice of\u00a0sustainability by focusing on themes such as organizational leadership, mixed methods research, environmental\u00a0justice, energy policy, and climate change. The program culminates with two capstone courses, which focus on independent student projects that highlight practice-based, process-oriented approaches to address the many pressing social, ecological and economic<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">issues facing humanity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As mentioned above, this is a genuinely unique major, intentionally designed to be coupled with a wide array of Minors.\u00a0 We encourage students to choose from a broad range of Minors(include link), such as (but not limited to) Environmental Studies, Business Management, Accounting, Anthropology, Climate Change, Policy and Action, Contemplative Studies, Creative Writing, Economics, Theatre, etc.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The intention is to allow truly trans-disciplinary interpretations of the full range of conceptions of whole-system sustainability.\u00a0 Our central argument is that sustainability as a field is much wider in scope than just environmental concerns.\u00a0 The common association of the word sustainability with actions like recycling and nature conservation is an idea that needs to be broadened to include all cases of human choice-making across time.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We strongly support environmentalism, nature conservation, recycling and so on, but we want to take sustainability far beyond these obvious connections.\u00a0 We see this field to be connectable to many aspects of human activity.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"collapsableContent\" tabindex=\"0\"><div class=\"collapsableTitle\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-down fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-up fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span>Outcomes for the major <\/div><div class=\"c_content\">\n<p><b>Goal 1: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students will acquire the knowledge to foster a sustainable world, with <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">particular attention to a systems approach.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><b>Outcome 1: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students will gain an understanding of the complex relationships that <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">exist in <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ecological, economic, and community systems<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><b of theories of sustainability and their discourses, from the vantage of a systems approach to solving problems of sustainability.<\/p>\n<p><b>Goal 2: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students will engage in the methods and practices of sustainability.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><b>Outcome 1: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students will learn the technique of conducting multi-<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">method research design.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><b>Outcome 2: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students will learn to implement appropriate practices for achieving <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">sustainability.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:
